Volunteer
UnderShare offers the opportunity to volunteer at many different commitment levels, with positions that fit your schedule and also your unique abilities. For example, maybe you’re short on time but you love to write. Great! You’re perfect for our P.R. Committee that doesn’t need to meet often. Or perhaps you have an ample free time but are tied to a desk. Then you’re just the person we need to call companies to secure corporate donations or auction items for our events!
Below is a representative sampling of some of the UnderShare volunteer positions that are available. We also welcome suggestions if you don’t see your perfect fit below:
Marketing/PR Committee
- Keeps press kits updated
- Writes press releases
- Gets our name out to shelters and community
- Puts PR committees in place for projects and events
- Secures press coverage for events, and liaises with press before and during events.
Operations Committee
- Executes donation collections and drop-offs
- Coordinates merchandise production (i.e. making fundraiser event t-shirts and signage, oversees printing of UnderShare materials such as stationery)
Shelter Committee
- Keeps updated lists of shelters, what they need and what we have provided
- Makes contact with shelters and acts and liaison between shelters and UnderShare
- Coordinates thank you letters, emails, etc from shelters UnderShare has donated to and delivery of those items to the PR committee to ensure they are placed on the UnderShare web site Press page
Historical Committee
- Takes photos (or oversees photographer) to document UnderShare’s path
- Works with Web Site Committee to ensure that up-to-date content is placed on the web site
- Keeps documents of all publicity and press so that PR chairs can access it easily
Activities/Volunteer Relations Committee
- Contacts volunteers about meetings and coordinates special projects
- Plans events for volunteers to attend/ participate in
